School Board Meeting Recap

June 4, 2026

Employee of the Month: Ms. Kasey Olson '16

The Board is pleased to recognize Kasey Olson, PACT alumna and grade 3 teacher, as PACT's May 2026 Employee of the Month. Ms. Olson demonstrates instructional excellence, creating a welcoming and engaging classroom where all students thrive.

Outside the classroom, Ms. Olson serves on the Building Instructional Leadership Team and leads her Professional Learning Community, modeling a student-centered approach and fostering a positive environment among colleagues. Please join us in congratulating Ms. Olson on this well-deserved recognition.

Operations Update: Tracy Peters, COO

PACT is hiring a new Community Education Coordinator and an Operations Coordinator, and Kelly Rosen is taking over transportation duties. Payroll is preparing for the fiscal year rollover and shifting pay dates to the 15th and the last day of each month.

Facilities has started summer maintenance, including parking lot refinishing and the installation of a new Elementary crosswalk. Because of this work, the building will be closed the week of July 6-10.

IT is processing returned hardware, strengthening account security, and has already prevented phishing attempts from reaching staff. Pikmykid (to replace Silent Dismissal) and Accelerate Education (Online Campus platform) integrations are also being completed.

Teaching & Learning Update: Dr. Teresa Widen, Executive Director of Teaching and Learning

The district team recently completed Session 3 of Developing Successful Teams for MnMTSS Implementation, a professional development course facilitated by COMPASS, CAREI at the University of Minnesota, and the Minnesota Department of Education. Titled "Taking Action to Improve Teams," the session focused on strengthening collaborative linked teams and embedding data-based decision-making across all operational tiers, including evaluating local alignment and communication feedback loops.

The AI Steering Committee met in May to advance a strategic framework for the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence. The committee clarified the distinction between binding Board policy and a forthcoming, adaptable AI Playbook, and reinforced the "Locked Office" rule protecting student data privacy. Its work is anchored by four core pillars: humans-in-the-loop, data privacy compliance, responsible use that protects productive struggle, and developmentally appropriate learning.

PACT is hiring a K-12 Digital Learning Specialist, grounded in the national ISTE Standards, to design staff professional development, partner with educators on curriculum design, guide digital citizenship and student privacy practices, and manage application security and data infrastructure for core systems such as Infinite Campus, Clever, Schoology, and Google Workspace.

In alignment with state and federal timelines, the administration is conducting its annual review and submission of key accountability documents to the Minnesota Department of Education. These include the Local Literacy Plan, updated under the Minnesota READ Act, and the ESEA Consolidated Title Applications for federal programs. Both are currently being audited for data fidelity and will be finalized ahead of their summer deadlines.

Elementary Update: Dr. Lara Bronson, Elementary Principal

Elementary Campus launched its Summer Reading 2026 initiative with a goal of 2,026 books, while staff will read The Power of Moments to inform their work in the fall.

Academic results affirmed the campus's focus on growth. Through the Reading & Math Corps partnership, 93% of tutored K-3 students exceeded their reading goals, and 100% improved their math benchmark scores. Internal data showed strong year-over-year growth across grade levels, with clear successes and opportunities to build on. Throughout May, teachers engaged in vertical PLCs, curriculum planning, and end-of-year data review, and the principal met individually with each teacher to reflect on student learning goals.

The Elementary Campus earned national recognition when a proposal was accepted for the 2026 National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Joint Conference in Charlotte this August. Dr. Bronson will represent PACT at the conference.

2026 Award of Excellence – PACT Website

PACT has received the Award of Excellence in the 2026 National School Communication Awards, presented by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). The PACT website redesign earned the top honor in the Publications and Digital Media category. This distinction recognizes our website as the best in its class nationally. In the coming weeks, PACT will receive a digital badge to display, and our website will be featured at NSPRA's National Convention in New Orleans this July.
